Stargate SG-1 - "Within the Serpent's Grasp" / "The Serpent's Lair" (TV Episode Review #27)

Long story short: Daniel Jackson has received news that Apophis is plotting to conquer Earth.  He has brought some important intel with him, a Stargate address to their base.  Another long story short: the U.S. government has shut down Stargate Command as a global security measure.  Out of options, SG-1 risks court martial in the name of saving the world by gating to Apophis’s base of attack.

Stargate Atlantis - "The Storm" / "The Eye" (TV Episode Review #26)

A massive cyclone is headed for Atlantis.  This storm is, as Sheppard puts it, as big as North America—which means that Atlantis has to work fast if their expedition is to survive.  Also, the Genii are lurking around the corner, thus setting the stage for the first siege Atlantis is subjected to on the show.  For the characters, this is literally a recipe for disaster.  As a story, it all works out really well.

Stargate SG-1 - "Wormhole X-Treme!" (TV Episode Review #25)

Long before the days of digital streaming, when broadcast viewership and syndication were king, when all TV shows needed 20+ episodes per season, 100 episodes was a milestone every show dreamed to achieve.  And the shows that did make it would celebrate with a very special episode.  With the case of Stargate SG-1, the series took a back seat from its continuing storyline for a meta-episode—the creators’ affectionate parody of and tribute to their own show.

Farscape - "They've Got a Secret" (TV Episode Review #22)

Here’s a title that sums up exactly what the episode is about: “They’ve Got a Secret”.  Who’ve got a secret?  D’Argo and the living ship herself, Moya—that’s who!  In offering a new inside look at the main ship and one member of her crew, this episode is a character study done right.  Plus, it all takes place onboard Moya, which allows us to see more of Farscape’s main ship.
